Established in 1912, the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation is the exclusive provider of workers’ compensation insurance in Ohio, serving 257,000 public and private employers. With nearly 1,600 employees and assets of approximately $22 billion, BWC is one of the largest state-run insurance systems in the United States.
Ohio’s workers’ compensation system helps injured workers and their employers cope with workplace injuries. BWC pays medical benefits and lost wages to employees who are injured or contract an occupational disease on the job. We’re here to give peace of mind to you and thousands of other injured workers every year by providing a quality, customer-focused workers’ compensation insurance system.
Ohio workers who are injured or contract an occupational disease on the job can request medical benefits. In some cases, you can also request compensation by filing a workers’ compensation claim. In Ohio, most injured workers return to work within the first week after their injury. However, some injured workers cannot return to work for a short period of time and require temporary benefits.
